This barley shochu is one of Jufuku's two signature products. In stark contrast to the softness of the rice, the barley's fragrant aroma is characterized by a punchy sweetness and umami. The longer it is left to age, the more mellow it becomes, developing a complex flavor reminiscent of a single malt.
It goes well with dishes that have a bit of a punch, as well as ethnic dishes and dishes that use spices such as chili peppers.

Founded in 1890, Kuma Shochu is a brewery of Kuma Shochu in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Their motto is "A shochu that you will never tire of drinking every day, a shochu that will always be by your side. A shochu that will make you feel a warmth and gentleness with every sip. A taste of Jufuku that only Jufuku can create." They are committed to handcrafting their shochu. Their signature brands are the rice shochu "Musha-gaeshi" and the barley shochu "Jufuku Kinuko."
