This shochu brewery is located about 20 kilometers east of Hitoyoshi City in Kumamoto Prefecture. The founder of the brewery is "Bunzo-san," who appears in the folk song "Rokuchoshi" from the Kuma region of Kumamoto Prefecture, which goes, "A country village headman goes sightseeing around the castle town... Old Bunzo of Taragi." The brewery uses the "Bunzo" brand name. They continue to produce rice shochu using traditional methods, including handmade koji, fermentation in earthenware jars, and atmospheric distillation.
