Domestic Whisky / Akkeshi Single Malt Japanese Whisky Beginning of Summer
Domestic Whisky / Akkeshi Single Malt Japanese Whisky Beginning of Summer
厚岸蒸留所
Akkeshi Distillery was established in 2016 along the coast of Akkeshi Town, located further east than Kushiro in the eastern region of Hokkaido, and aims to produce whisky similar to Islay malt, taking advantage of its location.
This "Rikka" is the 19th in the Akkeshi Distillery's "Twenty-Four Solar Terms Series." It is the season when the irises along the shores of Lake Akkeshi stand out against the refreshing blue of the early summer sky. The peaty flavor unique to Akkeshi malt develops a Japanese citrus aroma the longer it is aged. The key malt for this whisky is an all-Hokkaido malt, made with malt and Mizunara oak barrels from Hokkaido.
