The "Pot Still" series is made up of products differentiated by the unique "first distillation stills" that are unique to Shizuoka Distillery. The reason for this is the two very unique stills at Shizuoka Distillery. One is Still W, made in Scotland, which is heated using an open fire of wood. The other is Still K, which was relocated from the now-closed Karuizawa Distillery. The W still produces powerful, full-bodied whiskeys, while the K still produces vibrant, fruity whiskeys. The "Pot Still W" and "Pot Still K" series express the differences in flavors produced by each still.
This product is made using Pot Still W, combining domestically grown barley with a direct firewood still, just like the "Pot Still W Pure Japanese Barley First Edition," which won the Best Japanese Small Batch Single Malt award at WWA 2024. This is the first product in the W series to be aged for five years, and is made entirely from raw spirits aged for more than five years in ex-bourbon barrels.
