A new series called "Secret Warehouse" has been launched for the single malt Shizuoka "Pot Still K," a whiskey aged in an unnamed aging warehouse. Located north and south of the Shizuoka Distillery, the whiskey is aged for over five years in two warehouses, each with a completely different climate and environment outside of Shizuoka Prefecture, before returning to the Shizuoka Distillery and bottling in each warehouse.
This "Kita 5 Year Old" is aged in a warehouse at the foot of the northern mountains, far from Shizuoka. The raw liquor from the Pot Still K is packed into puncheon barrels and aged in the cool climate of the mountains. It is a cool environment with milder temperature changes than the distillery. After 5 years in this environment, the raw liquor from K has a soft, grape-like freshness and a malty sweetness.
