This "Goldrons" is a Campbeltown blended malt whisky that is said to be made by major bottler Douglas Laing using raw spirits from two of the three distilleries currently existing in Campbeltown: Springbank Distillery and Glen Scotia Distillery.
Douglas Laing has structured its brand portfolio by region, with Islay (Big Peat), Speyside (Scallywag), Highland (Timolous Beast), Islands (Rock Island), Lowland (Epicurean), and Campbeltown (Goldrons).
(Tasting notes)
The palate begins with a dry, salty, sweet cereal note, followed by a subtle, gentle peat smoke. The palate starts dry, reminiscent of the seaside, then gradually warms with hints of coarse sugar, barley, and oak. The finish still has warm spice, with the smoke and tide pools complemented by the sweetness of brown sugar.
