Gordon & MacPhail, the oldest bottler in the world, was founded in 1895 and manages the maturation process itself, filling its own barrels with distilled raw spirits, aging them at each distillery, and bottling them in its own warehouses.
This product is part of the new "Discovery" series, a single malt aged for 10 years in sherry casks using malt from Miltonduff Distillery in Speyside, which is primarily used as the key malt for Ballantine's.
(Tasting notes)
Nose: Chocolate and rich orange marmalade transform into stewed raisins and sweet baked apples. Fresh cut grass is delicately balanced with rich sherry notes.
Taste: Sweet and spicy. Warm butter candy intertwines with roasted hazelnut, orange peel, cinnamon and mouth-warming pepper, evolving into plum and fig jam.
Finish: Chocolate and stewed fruit are lingering, accompanied by winter spices.
