Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 and is a leading single cask bottling company.
This product is part of the "Cask Strength Collection," a single malt whisky bottled directly from the casks in which it was aged, without adding water. It is a peated whisky distilled in 2007 at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, the second largest island in the Inner Hebrides, and aged for 12 years in refill sherry casks (butts). It is non-colored.
Tobermory Distillery was founded in 1798, but production has been on and off since then. It was only after management was transferred to Byrne Stewart Distillers in 1993 that whisky production began in earnest (now part of the Heineken Group), so in that sense it can be considered a relatively new distillery. The product line offers two brands: the unpeated "Tobermory" and the heavily peated "Ledaig." "Ledaig" offers the smoky, oily flavor typical of Islands malt.
