As part of its blended malt series, major bottler Douglas Laing has now released a blended malt from the Lowlands, a region that is rarely focused on as a malt whisky producing region, following on from Islay (product: Big Peat), Speyside (product: Scallywag), Islands (product: Rock Island), and Highland (product: Timorous Beastie).
The whisky is made primarily from Auchentoshan and Glenkinchie, with one secret malt added (not disclosed). It has a smooth, clean taste, typical of the Lowlands.

In Glasgow in the 1930s, there was a man known as "The Epicurean" who loved to party. Whenever the Epicurean enjoyed a glass of whiskey, he was surrounded by his admirers. He would regale those around him with tales of his heroic exploits, his encounters in exotic lands, and the food and drink he enjoyed during his travels. He was always stylish, charismatic, and a little cheeky.
Douglas Laing's new regional malt is crafted to pay homage to the bold and uninhibited character of this "epicurean".

Even just one sip will reveal the rich flavors of barley, citrus, and herbs. The rich, sweet taste is intertwined with complex flavors of sugar, spice, and peach, lingering until it reaches a pleasant finish.
