Ardmore 13 Year Old marks Thompson's eighth bottling. Casks from Ardmore 2009, which had been aging since August 2021, were vatted (blended) approximately 50/50 with casks from Ardrea 2010, the distillery's unpeated malt whisky. The 2010 was then slowly diluted to 48.5% ABV for a symphony of flavors. While retaining the smoky notes characteristic of Ardmore, the tropical fruit notes are amplified by Ardrea, creating a harmonious, polyphonic expression.
Ardrea is typically used in blends for official bottles, making this whisky from an independent bottler a rare and unusual vatted malt whisky.
