Brown sugar shochu (Amami) - Tomita Brewery / Ryugu

This classic brown sugar shochu from Tomita Brewery, and perhaps even representative of Amami, is a favorite. Made in a kama-sei (earthenware) using Okinawan brown sugar and domestically produced rice koji, it features a roasted nutty aroma, a sweet mineral-infused taste, and a crisp finish. While the overall impression is dry, the pleasant aroma lingers on the finish. Contrary to what you might expect, this is a brown sugar shochu you'll never tire of. Enjoy it on the rocks, with water, hot water, or soda. It's also a great base for making plum wine.
