This sake is made from mash brewed entirely with koji and distilled under atmospheric pressure. It has a rich flavor and a sweet texture, and is blended with a 5-year-old aged sake. It initially has a distinctive aroma reminiscent of awamori, which then changes from the sweet aroma of barley to a complex caramel-like aroma. The taste starts with a smooth sweetness, followed by a distinctive, slightly astringent aftertaste. Because of its rich flavor, it pairs particularly well with meat dishes, served on the rocks or with hot water.

This brewery, located in Chikugo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, was founded in 1893. Since its founding, the brewery has been dedicated to producing authentic shochu, and in pursuit of the inherent fragrant, complex flavor and ease of drinking of barley, it strictly evaluates the combination of barley aroma and flavor according to its own standards, and carefully selects barley that is best suited to barley shochu based on factors such as grain uniformity, starch content, and hardness.
