Producer/Brewery ( Yamagata Prefecture / Fumotoi Sake Brewery )

Founded in 1894, this brewery is located in Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture. Located at the foot of Mount Chokai, one of the highest mountains in the Tohoku region, the brewery was named "Fumotoi" (Foot Well) after the well water that springs up there and the "well" in the Sakai family name. The brewery specializes in kimoto sake brewing, making use of the water that springs from Mount Chokai.
