This Junmai Daiginjo Sasanigori sake, available only this time of year, has a fun snowman label and is a new/unpasteurized sake. It has a gorgeous aroma reminiscent of apples and pears, and the umami and sweetness of rice that comes from the moderate cloudiness unique to Sasanigori. It has a soft mouthfeel and a pleasant, lingering finish.

Producer/Brewery ( Gunma Prefecture / Ryujin Sake Brewery (Oze Snowmelt) )

This brewery was founded in the Edo period and is located in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture. Their signature brand is "Oze no Yukidoke." The company name comes from the fact that the brewery was built on top of "Ryujin no Ido," a famous spring water produced by the melting snow of Oze. Using the ultra-soft water that springs from this well, they brew sake that is primarily rich and flavorful, bringing out the natural umami of the rice to the fullest.
