ブランド名「W」（ダブリュー）とは、渡辺酒造店（Watanabe）、世界（World）、笑い（Warai）という３つの意味を表し、「蓬莱」とは別に特約店限定で発売されるシリーズ。
この商品は、「金紋錦」を50%精米し醸した、純米大吟醸クラスの純米、無濾過生原酒です。
酒造好適米「金紋錦」は「たかね錦」と「山田錦」を交配させた品種で、長野県木島平村でしか栽培されていない稀少品種。1956年に開発されたものの栽培が難しく、近年では石川県の蔵元1軒のみが使用していた中で、ようやく2004年頃から再び長野県の酒蔵でも使用が広がり、復活を遂げつつある酒米です。

甘味と酸味を巻き込んだリンゴや完熟パイナップルのような上品な香りや味わいを感じ、冷やすと程よい酸味とキレが引き立ち、骨格がはっきりとした落ち着きのある味わいです。常温では、ふくよかなお米の輪郭が浮かび上がり、旨みの余韻がより引き立ちます。

Founded in 1870 (Meiji 3), this brewery is located in Hida City, Gifu Prefecture. Its flagship brand is "Horai." Utilizing the bounty of Hida's natural environment, the brewery works hard to brew sake based on chemistry, physics, and philosophy, in an environment filled with smiles, with Yoshimoto Kogyo comedy acts played in the brewing tanks.
