Koei Kiku Lake of Happiness -Lacus Felicitatis- Madeira barrel aged

Koei Kiku, whose corporate philosophy is to "continue to produce exciting new sake that has never been seen before," is releasing three barrel-aged sakes at the same time. This time, they used Madeira, Pedro Ximenez, and Oloroso barrels. They are taking on various challenges, such as sakes brewed specifically to match the characteristics of the barrels, and sakes that are selected and blended from sakes that have been aged for a long time. Each of the three types has very different flavor characteristics, so you can enjoy comparing them.
This product is a sake aged in Madeira barrels, which are used for fortified wine from Madeira Island. The first-year (2020) Tsukikage/Oyama Nishiki pasteurized (aged at ice for approximately three years) sake, which perfectly complements the flavor of the black grapes, is aged in these barrels for approximately one and a half years, and then blended with three sakes from the 2021 and 2022 harvests, including a slightly cloudy sake. The yellow color, with a slight reddish tint and a slight hint of sediment, and the unique barrel aroma, reminiscent of burnt toast with butter and orange marmalade, create a deep flavor.
