Jacques-Frédéric Munier Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Clos de la Maréchal 2022

Nuits-Saint-Georges is the southernmost region of the Côte de Nuits, home to the great red wines of Burgundy. It is dotted with many Premier Cru vineyards, including some comparable to Grand Cru vineyards. The hills north of the Mouzin River are known for their soft, feminine style of wine, while the hills south of them produce more structured, powerful wines.
The Mugnier family purchased the land and chateau from the Marais-Monge family in the late 1800s. Financial problems led to the leasing of most of the vineyards, but in 1985, the current owner, Frédéric Mugnier, fifth generation of the family, took over. In 2003, the leased Clos de la Maréchal vineyard was returned, expanding the vineyard area and achieving dramatic growth. Today, Mugnier's skills are recognized as masters of bringing out the delicate and vibrant character of Chambolle-Musigny, and he is considered to be on a par with the two great domaines of Comte Georges de Vogüé and Georges Roumier.
