Opus One is a winery founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the legendary owner of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, and renowned Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi. The Bordeaux-style wines produced at Opus One are rich red wines made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, with relatively high alcohol content and designed for long-term aging. First released in 1984, they quickly gained recognition and established a status comparable to high-end Bordeaux wines.
Due to the effects of the fires, there was no production in 2020, so this product will be from the 2021 harvest.
The aroma of captivating black fruits such as cassis and blackberry is balanced with subtle hints of violet, vanilla, and baking spices. The palate is bright, fresh, and concentrated, with finely textured tannins that create a creamy, velvety texture. The finish is light and long, with alluring flavors of black tea, licorice, and dark chocolate. It also promises long-term aging in the cellar.
Maceration: 19 days, barrel aging: Aged in French oak (new barrels) for 19 and a half months.
