Philippe Bouzereau is a nine-generation family-run winery in Meursault, a renowned Burgundy white wine region. Based in Meursault, the winery produces wine from vineyards in five villages, from Aloxe-Corton in the north to Santenay in the south. The grapes are cultivated using strict lutte raisonnée methods, without the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. To maximize the unique character of each vineyard, the wines are characterized by a pure, authentic taste that reflects the terroir of each vineyard, with a limited use of new oak.
This is a highly acclaimed producer whose wines are listed on the menus of famous restaurants such as the three-star Pierre Gagnaire in Paris and the two-star Le Crocodile in Alsace, and are regular features in Decanter and Guide de Hachette magazines.
This wine is a great value for money wine from the Vieux Clos du Château de Cîteaux vineyard, which Philippe Bouzereau owns and continues to look after (a monopole [solely owned vineyard] meaning the "old plot" of Château de Cîteaux since winemaking began by Cistercian monks in 1098).
(Tasting Notes) Delicate, mineral, soft, and deep, with plenty of seductive butter and hazelnut notes. Refined and long finish. Creamy and fruity. A slightly salty finish.
