Founded in 1879, Remoissenet Père et Fils is a domaine and négociant located in the city of Beaune. Since 2005, American investor Edward Milstein has acquired management rights. Under the new management of renowned female winemaker Claudie Jobard, the winery has expanded its vineyards from just 2.5 hectares to approximately 15 hectares, and has adopted modern management practices such as organic farming to improve quality. The wines are renowned for their unique style of aging in their own underground cellars until they are ready to drink.
In Gevrey-Chambertin, the company owns several plots totaling 2.6 hectares, including the village-level vineyards of Champs Chenis and Pressonnières. Following a severely reduced yield in 2016, 2017 was blessed with favorable weather and no disease damage, resulting in a year of higher quality and yield than usual, much to the producers' delight.
(Tasting Comments) The sweet aroma of plum, mint, and passion fruit, along with spicy elements, creates a large-scale structure. The aroma is well-rounded, and the oaky notes and iron-like nuances of Pinot Noir blend elegantly without being overpowering. It's an enchanting fragrance that you'll want to linger on forever. On the palate, the rich fruitiness spreads first, overwhelming you. You can also taste the alcohol, acidity, and tannins, but they're all blended into the liquid, creating a unified flavor. This wine is pure, soft, and fruity, typical of the 2017 vintage.
