Collection: Ibaraki Prefecture / Yoshikubo Sake Brewery (Ippin, Hyakusai)

Founded in 1790 (the second year of the Kansei era), this brewery is located in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Its signature brand is "Ippin." Yoshikubo Seizaburo, the head of a wealthy rice merchant in Mito Kokucho (present-day Honrokuchome), famous for the character Komon-sama (Mito Mitsukuni, the deputy shogun of Japan), who appears in period dramas, began brewing sake. After receiving orders to be a supplier to the Tokugawa family, the brewery's name spread throughout the Mito area, and it was favored by many Mito feudal retainers, including Confucian scholar Fujita Toko.
