Collection: Hiroshima Prefecture / Imada Sake Brewery Main Branch (Fukucho)

Founded in 1868 (the first year of the Meiji era), this brewery is located in Akitsucho, Higashihiroshima City, the birthplace of Hiroshima's master brewers, who developed the technique of ginjo brewing using soft water. Their flagship brand is "Fukucho." They are committed to traditional ginjo brewing, working to revive "Hattansukasa," the oldest indigenous variety of "Hattans" sake rice, Hiroshima's signature sake rice, and to utilizing white koji.

In 2000, Miho Imada was appointed as the master brewer (and also became president in 2017), and in 2020, the company was famous for being the only Japanese person to be selected as one of the BBC's "100 Women of the Year."
